Expert summary
Slimming World is a British organization specializing in weight loss programs. It runs more than 5,500 weight loss classes a week all through the UK. The target group is fairly large, all adults who are seven or more pounds overweight. They can join a convenient, local Slimming World class for a weekly fee. The cost of joining was 10 pounds and the weekly fee 4.5 pounds in 2007. Slimming World also recommends a diet plan which they call ‘Food Optimizing.’ The classes are led by self-employed consultants. Customers can get weighed, buy special food, get advice, and stay for talks on dieting and slimming. A customer’s actual weight is never mentioned but any gain or loss in weight is discussed.Recommended content

A Physician's Slimming Guide
The book is short because Barnard has spared us anecdotes, padding, and lengthy but irrelevant personal testimony. This book gets down to brass tacks immediately, is clearly presented, and makes total sense. I'm impressed not only by the book but also by the success of the method and its common-sense simplicity. Highly recommended. -
Slimming Secrets of the Rich and Famous
2.0 out of 5 stars Leaves a lot to be desired This book was a disappointment. Much of the information is common knowledge. The recipes were unappetizing for the most part. Some recipes such as pasta carbonara would be high in calories. One celebrity has bacon or ham for breakfast each day. -
